Being in the area just before Christmas really added a lot to the experience, not because I am a fan of festivities (on the contrary, I am the Grinch) but because the snow, trees covered in white, all those lights in and around the houses make the environment so cozy and warm despite the cold weather. So if the Grinch liked it, you will love it…
It was a long day with flights and too many turbulences. But for me, the real trip starts now: a night train will take me and my friend to Jörn, in the Swedish Lapland, 10 hours away from Stockholm…
After landing in Stockholm, a night train will take us up to Skelleftea, not far from the Arctic Circle. If you think we’re just going to freeze our face (cough cough) off, I am more than happy to prove you wrong!
I definitely wasn’t expecting I was going to be covered in a mixture of capers, olive oil and sea salt, scrubbed and massaged for over 1 hour, that day, and it’s an experience that still makes me smile when I think back of it. My skin was glowing and so soft, for days after the treatment. And I loved the smell! The capers of Salina are worldwide famous and coming to this tiny island and having this specific scrub treatment felt luxurious, special and unique.
When you go to Aci Trezza and take a walk along the coast, looking at the stacks (Faraglioni) will create this evocative atmosphere, making the visit more special and unforgettable.
Also, did I mention there is a Jacuzzi plunge pool on the rooftop? So even when the sun is shining… you can still stay in. Never leave. Oh no why did I leave?
(Grand Hotel Arciduca – I will be back!)
