Ladies and Gentleman, I’m officially scared. I didn’t realize how serious the situation was until tonight. Yes, of course the Alexandria bombing of New Year’s Eve is really serious but I didn’t think it would have taken all the Country to this stage.
Now “we” are expecting a major terroristic attack in Cairo (or any other place in Egypt) today (Thurs, Jan 6th) or the following day (Fri, Jan 7th), because of the Coptic Christmas celebrations.
I just read an article on Al Masry Alyoum that states:
Following the Alexandria terrorist attack on New Year’s Eve, Egypt’s Interior Ministry on Wednesday intensified security measures in downtown Cairo’s main streets and squares.
All abandoned cars left parked in the street have been removed in the fear they could be laden with explosive material.
Also, the ministry stepped up its security presence in crowded places such as malls and movie theaters that could serve as terrorist targets.
The ministry took similar measures in all governorates.
Now, I live in Downtown Cairo.
And now I’m starting to get worried… Not really for myself, Cairo is a huge city and it would be hard to get involved. But for the situation itself – ok, I can avoid riding the metro for these 2 days, I can avoid Churches (how sad is this?) and I can be safe somehow. But I really don’t want to hear about people getting hurt, and I don’t want Egypt to get into this, and it doesn’t take an expert in politics to understand that all this is wrong… Maybe nothing will happen but why do we have to be here and fear attacks just because …it’s Christmas?
I had some important bad/good news to tell you, but at the moment the main feeling I have is worry, a bit of fear too. It’s the first time in my life that I feel something like this. That something could actually happen to me or to people I know and love.
I will keep you posted and let’s hope nothing happens.

Wow.. that’s so serious chica.. So sad this things happen all around the world. We are still scared by North Korea still but it’s quite alright at the moment. At least it was not in Seoul for god sake’s.
Please be safe! And fly to Singapore..and see news. :)
Being around people when they got hurt, is very upsetting..
Be safe!! xx
Juno, I think now I can understand your feeling more. It sucks to be scared just walking in the streets, and having to hide from something you don’t even see!
But so far so good, luckily… I hope these days of riots pass quickly and everything will be normal soon.
And in the meantime… Singapore! Just perfect timing to relax a little bit :)
Sending good thoughts your way girlie.
Thanks girl :)
yeah nice
