I just love unexpected things.
Everything happened in a few minutes: I got a text from a friend “Are you interested in this job?” – A few minutes later I was on the phone with the manager of a beautiful resort in Pugnochiuso, Italy and he hired me without even seeing my resume!
So I finally have a new destination:
Area: Southern Italy, in the Gargano area (that little tip of land on the right above the “boot heel”).
In about 30 hours I will be on a pretty long road trip heading south, me and my Smart car, with wind in my hair (because I don’t have a/c!). Alone with my music, enjoying every mile of my way, realizing how far I’m going.
I thought about going by plane but it was expensive. Train was cheap but too much hassle (2 trains including night train, arriving the day after). Then I realized that going by car was the best thing!
I am so excited and happy. I will start working in a few days and I decided to go by car also in order to have the possibility of exploring the area in my free time.
There are so many things I want to see and do! And above all:
Alberobello is a town in Puglia, famous for its typical round houses called “trulli”. One of my weirdest dreams is to buy one of them!
Ostuni, also called “the white city”, is a stunning city perched on the hill and on the sea at the same time. Just beautiful!
- Meetups and food
I have friends almost everywhere in the world, and also all around Italy. This is because when you work in hotels you always get to know people from around the country: look at me, I’m from Genoa and I’m going to work almost 1000 km away from home…
So I hope to meet all the people I know from that area. Finally I have the chance! And I’m sure they’ll take me to the right places to enjoy the delicious local food… oh I can’t wait.
And blogging-wise this means: more “delights of Italy” posts coming!
It’s the first time for me to go to this area, and because I had no idea this was going to happen, I don’t really know how this place looks like, or what’s there to do. And I won’t do any research. I love surprises and can’t wait to see what’s around the corner for me!
New friends, beaches, nice tours… Here I come!
I’m finally happy and excited again. Definitely relieved. I was really worried these days, as I didn’t find a job yet, but now everything is ok and I can see my South America trip coming soon as I will finally start earning some money again!
I will take tons of pictures and will be blogging about new places soon. Can’t wait to see Puglia, a beautiful part of Italy that I never saw before!
